A Prelude to the Classics Music Academy of Performing Arts & Music Therapy is a specialized music education facility dedicated to providing exceptional piano instruction and fostering a love of music in students of all ages and abilities. Founded in 2009 and operating in Sarasota and Boca Raton, Florida, the academy distinguishes itself through its focus on gifted children, students with learning disabilities (including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Asperger’s Syndrome), and aspiring young musicians. Miss Marcy Gilroy (Greer), the founder and director, brings a unique blend of musical expertise, business acumen, and a deep understanding of child development to the academy. Her credentials – including a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance and Music Management, an MBA, and an EJD – combined with her extensive performance experience and current role as a Professional Tutor at Florida Atlantic University, ensure a high standard of instruction. The academy’s pedagogical approach emphasizes individualized learning, utilizing methods such as Dalcroze Eurhythmics to enhance rhythm and movement, and timbre differentiation to develop a comprehensive understanding of musical sounds. Furthermore, the academy integrates music therapy principles to support cognitive, behavioral, and social development, and offers comprehensive college preparation for high school students pursuing music-related majors. The academy’s commitment to competition preparation and scholarship opportunities further solidifies its position as a premier music education destination.
